Danny Ocean’s latest album “Babylon Club” is more than just a collection of songs it’s an immersive experience designed to transport listeners to a tropical utopia. The Venezuelan artist, who first rose to international fame with his hit “Me Rehúso,” envisions “Babylon Club” as a symbolic beachside haven, a place where life’s worries are set aside and the beauty of life is celebrated.
In an interview ahead of the album’s release, Ocean explained that the project is dedicated to his fans—whom he affectionately calls the “Babylon Club” and to the concept of carving out spaces in life for relaxation and joy, away from work and routine obligations. The album is deeply inspired by Caribbean culture, reflecting Ocean’s love for salsa, merengue, Afro beats, and other tropical sounds.
The album’s creation saw Ocean collaborating with several artists across Latin America. For the single “Priti,” he teamed up with Panamanian artist Sech, forging not just a creative partnership but a friendship. Another highlight is “Sunshine” featuring Louis BPM, a rising urban artist from Ocean’s home city of Caracas, Venezuela. Ocean emphasized his desire to spotlight urban Venezuelan talent, despite the challenges artists face in a country with limited industry infrastructure.
Mexico City played a key role in the album’s creative process as well, serving as the backdrop for Ocean’s collaboration with Kenia OS on the track “AyMami,” a song he had initially recorded eight years prior but recently rediscovered and revamped. Other collaborations include “Arena” with Puerto Rican star Arcángel, “Anoche” with Spanish singer Aitana, and a flamenco-infused track “Corazón.”
The album is accompanied by a short film that visually narrates the stories behind five of its songs, portraying themes of migration, hard work, and the emotional toll on those who have left their homelands. Ocean himself plays a symbolic “guardian angel” figure in the film, urging characters to escape their grind and find solace in the metaphorical “Babylon Club.”
Having immigrated to the U.S. almost a decade ago, Ocean connects deeply with the struggles faced by migrants. Amid ongoing immigration debates and uncertainties, he expressed solidarity with his fellow Venezuelans and other migrants, offering them a message of “strength and patience.”
With a tour lined up across Latin America starting in September, “Babylon Club” reflects Danny Ocean’s vision of balancing ambition with the need to embrace life’s simple, beautiful moments.
