The Daily Adda welcomes freelance contributions from experienced journalists, subject matter experts, and thoughtful writers. We aim to publish stories that are well-researched, clearly written, and relevant to readers across the UK and beyond.

Before submitting a pitch, please read the guidelines below carefully. We receive more submissions than we can publish, so understanding what we are looking for will help improve your chances of acceptance.

What We Publish

1. In-depth analysis, not short opinions
We are looking for articles that explore complex issues with depth and context. Opinion pieces that only state a strong viewpoint without analysis are usually not a good fit. We want articles that help readers understand all sides of an issue and explain why it matters.

2. Long-term relevance
We do not follow the daily news cycle. Your piece should remain relevant for weeks or months. It is fine to refer to current events, but your article should focus on the bigger picture, long-term themes, or deeper context.

3. Clear and accessible writing
Our readers come from many backgrounds. Avoid industry jargon, insider language, or technical terms unless they are explained clearly. Focus on clarity and making your article easy to understand.

4. Accuracy and sourcing
You are responsible for making sure your article is factually correct. Use reliable sources, and include links to primary sources whenever possible. Articles with factual errors or weak sourcing will not be accepted.

5. Fresh and original ideas
Before pitching, check our website to see what we have already published. Avoid repeating topics we have recently covered. Some areas we often accept freelance contributions in include:

  • National and international politics
  • Science and technology
  • Law and civil rights
  • Education and healthcare
  • Climate and the environment
  • Media and culture
  • Ethics, religion, and philosophy

What We Avoid

  • Short opinion pieces under 800 words
  • One-sided or overly political articles
  • Stories that will feel outdated in a few days
  • Content written in a sarcastic or emotional tone

Article Length and Style

Articles should usually be between 1,000 and 1,500 words. If you would like to write a longer piece, please send us a short summary first. Writing should be thoughtful, fair, and based on evidence. Avoid clickbait titles and unsupported claims.

How to Submit a Pitch

Please email your pitch to submission@thedailyadda.com. Include the following:

  1. A short headline and summary of your proposed article
  2. A few sentences explaining why you are qualified to write it
  3. A sentence or two on why this article fits News Republic
  4. Links to one or two samples of your previous work, if available

We welcome writers from all backgrounds. You do not need formal journalism training, but you must write clearly, think critically, and follow our standards.

After You Submit

We aim to respond within three business days. If you do not hear from us, you are free to submit your piece to another publication.

If your pitch is accepted, our editors may suggest changes to improve clarity, structure, or accuracy. You may withdraw your article before publication, but final editorial decisions are made by our team.
