Durbin presses for answers as Epstein files, including Trump mentions, remain under wraps.

FBI agents were reportedly instructed to flag records mentioning Donald Trump in Jeffrey Epstein’s files. Senator Richard Durbin raised this claim amid concerns about the review process. He called for transparency from the Trump administration regarding these documents.

Durbin sent letters to Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI leaders questioning inconsistencies. Bondi had promised fuller disclosures earlier in the year. However, a Justice Department memo later halted any further releases of Epstein-related files.

Between March 14 and 31, hundreds of FBI staff reviewed approximately 100,000 Epstein records. Durbin asked who directed this reassignment and why records mentioning Trump were flagged. He also noted many agents lacked experience handling sensitive victim information.

Pam Bondi previously claimed an Epstein “client list” was under review on her desk. She shared some documents with conservative groups but faced criticism. The DOJ later said no client list exists and confirmed Epstein’s 2019 suicide.

Trump’s name appears multiple times in Epstein files alongside other high-profile figures. Flight logs include Trump and family on several flights with Epstein. Trump denied sending a controversial letter and has filed a lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal.

Jeffrey Epstein was convicted in 2008 for crimes involving minors and died by suicide in 2019. His Little Saint James island was central to abuse claims. Durbin’s scrutiny intensifies amid concerns over justice and transparency in the case.

This controversy coincides with other legal battles involving Trump, such as rulings limiting his trade powers. Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook is suing Trump over an attempted removal. Political tensions rise as New York’s Attorney General faces federal investigation.

Public reactions on social media remain divided on the Epstein file controversy. Some accuse the DOJ of covering up, while others call it a political smear. A poll shows 89% of Americans want full disclosure of the Epstein documents.
