U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) didn’t hold back after reports surfaced that Donald Trump’s appointed border czar, Tom Homan, had accepted a bribe during an undercover FBI operation.
According to Raw Story, citing an exclusive report by MSNBC, Homan was the subject of an FBI investigation last year. Undercover agents, posing as business executives, reportedly handed him $50,000 in cash after he suggested he could help them land government contracts if Trump returned to the White House.
“In an undercover operation last year, the FBI recorded Tom Homan, now the White House border czar, accepting $50,000 in cash after indicating he could help the agents — who were posing as business executives — win government contracts in a second Trump administration,” MSNBC reported. The outlet said it had reviewed internal documents and spoken with multiple sources familiar with the investigation.
The plan, according to those sources, was for the FBI and Justice Department to monitor whether Homan would follow through on his alleged promise if Trump was re-elected. But once Trump returned to office in January, the investigation reportedly came to a halt. Six sources told MSNBC that the probe was effectively shelved — and in recent weeks, it was officially closed after Trump appointees took charge. FBI Director Kash Patel had requested a status update before the case was shut down, two of the sources added.
Ocasio-Cortez responded with a sharp jab on social media. Tagging Homan in a post on X, she wrote simply:
