Donald Trump’s supporters on social media were outraged after his Tuesday morning speech at the United Nations was briefly overtaken by a foreign language.
While the former president was speaking, viewers tuning into the live stream suddenly heard Portuguese translation loudly playing over his voice.
The unexpected audio glitch was the most noticeable in a string of technical difficulties Trump faced that day. Earlier, he had to deal with a stalled escalator and later, a malfunctioning teleprompter before managing to deliver his speech.
The string of small mishaps sparked outrage among some conservative conspiracy theorists, who began suggesting that the issues weren’t accidents at all. Some even hinted that the United Nations might have intentionally tried to sabotage Trump’s appearance.
White House communications advisor Jason Miller reacted to the audio mix-up on X with clear frustration, posting, “Nice audio feed, UN,” along with a facepalm.
Nice audio feed, UN. 🤦🏻♂️#UNGA2025

Some Trump supporters online were quick to accuse the United Nations of trying to interfere with his speech. “The UN is trying to do everything you can to disrupt President Trump’s speech,” posted one user, Mrsmmtbeauty. “You will not silence President Trump!”
The UN is trying to do everything you can to disrupt President Trump’s speech.
They tried to humiliate him with a broken escalator and a broken teleprompter.

You will not silence President Trump!

Another user, going by ARQSAA, added, “Silencing [President Trump] is not a good idea.”
While a few voices from the MAGA crowd claimed the UN was trying to silence him, Trump still delivered a full 50-minute speech on Tuesday morning.
During his address, he covered a wide range of topics. He took a swipe at the UN for not letting him renovate the building back when he was a real estate developer. He also criticized the organization for failing to credit him with “ending seven un-endable wars,” despite some of those conflicts still ongoing. At one point, he told world leaders their countries are “going to hell” because they allow “uncontrolled migration.”
Trump also praised the state of the U.S. economy during his speech, saying that “grocery prices are down,” manufacturing is “booming,” and that America has “defeated inflation.”
However, recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Federal Reserve tells a different story. Grocery prices are still rising, manufacturing job growth has slowed, and inflation remains a concern.
At one point, while shifting topics to climate change, Trump took a jab at Europe. He claimed the continent is “too hot” because people there refuse to use air conditioning.
