Bruce Springsteen has openly called for Donald Trump to be impeached. The “Born in the USA” singer made it clear that he doesn’t care at all about what the former president thinks of him. However, he strongly believes Trump should be removed from political relevance and remembered as a negative figure in American history.
In an interview with TIME magazine, Springsteen said, “I absolutely couldn’t care less what he thinks about me. He’s the living example of why the 25th Amendment and impeachment exist. If Congress had any real courage, he’d already be out of the picture for good.”
Springsteen also expressed concern about how many people have supported Trump despite his actions. “A lot of people believed his lies,” he said. “He doesn’t care about the forgotten Americans. He only cares about himself and the billionaires who stood behind him on Inauguration Day.”
While critical of Trump, the 76-year-old musician also voiced his concern about the current political landscape. He feels there is no strong alternative to the Republican Party at the moment. “You have to recognize that many Americans are comfortable with his politics—based on power and control,” he explained.
Springsteen went on to say the country is in desperate need of a real alternative. “We either need a new effective party or for the Democrats to find someone who can truly connect with most of the country. There’s a serious issue with the way they’re communicating and trying to reach people.”
Earlier this year, Trump hit back at Springsteen after the rocker criticized his leadership during a concert in Manchester, England. Trump responded harshly on his Truth Social platform, calling Springsteen a “pushy, obnoxious JERK” and “dumb as a rock.”
The former president also took a jab at Springsteen’s appearance and his support for Joe Biden. He wrote, “Sleepy Joe didn’t know what he was doing, and Springsteen is too dumb to see it—or maybe he did, which is even worse. This dried-up ‘prune’ of a rocker ought to keep his mouth shut until he comes back to the country. Then we’ll see how it goes.”
Trump didn’t hold back in his criticism, adding, “Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left politics. And let’s be honest—he’s not even that talented. Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK.”
