Several online petitions calling for the deportation of Nicki Minaj to Trinidad have now crossed the 100,000-signature mark.
The push follows remarks Minaj made earlier this month at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest alongside Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, as well as other recent moves that have sparked backlash.
Two separate drives seeking to have the rapper removed from the United States and returned to her birthplace of Trinidad have been launched on change[dot]org.
The first petition, started on July 9, points to Minaj’s erratic social-media behavior and her marriage to a registered sex offender, and it has gathered more than 74,000 signatures.
A second effort was launched five days after her surprise Dec. 27 appearance at the Turning Point event, where she praised Donald Trump and made remarks that many interpreted as targeting members of the LGBTQ+ community.
That petition has drawn over 30,000 signatures.
“Deporting Nicki Minaj back to Trinidad would serve as a reminder that public figures need to be accountable for their words and the broader impact they have on diverse communities,” the petition text states.
“Sign this petition to urge immigration authorities to review Nicki Minaj’s residency status in the United States and consider deporting her back to Trinidad as a response to her harmful rhetoric.”
Minaj’s full-throated MAGA turn at AmericaFest has left many people puzzled and a number of fans openly questioning her choices. Since the conference, she has not offered a detailed explanation for her stance.
