A moment that many observers initially brushed off as a minor blip has now completely reignited public concern over President Donald Trump’s physical health. Trump appeared to completely lose control of his body mid-speech at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston last Friday. His arms jerked, his voice broke, and he seemed to lose his place entirely before pushing forward as if nothing had occurred.

The incident took place during the Congressional Space Medal of Honor presentation at the space center, while Trump was on stage talking about the stock market. His delivery suddenly collapsed mid-sentence. His right arm jerked upward, he blinked, his voice went quiet for a beat, and then his left arm moved sharply. The entire shocking sequence lasted only a few seconds.

That brief moment on stage quickly spread across social media and left viewers deeply unsettled. What started as a passing clip soon became the subject of serious clinical analysis. A Georgia-based clinical and forensic psychologist stepped forward to review the footage and raise red flags about what it could actually mean.

John Paul Garrison, a clinical and forensic psychologist based in Georgia, said the movements he observed were consistent with a possible focal aware seizure, also known as a partial seizure. He was careful to frame his review as personal professional opinion rather than a formal medical diagnosis. He still called it the most concerning footage of Trump he had ever analyzed, describing the episode as neurological in nature.

“For the past few months, I have been showing various neurological concerns and some steep signs of decline from President Trump, but what we’re going to start with today is extremely concerning,” Garrison said, according to Raw Story.

What made the episode stand out to Garrison was not just the jerk itself but the way the movement traveled across Trump’s body in a specific, sequential pattern. He noted that this kind of progression is not consistent with a simple muscle spasm or stress response. It pointed instead to something happening inside the brain, crossing from one side to the other.

“What you just observed was a distinct and concerning neurological event, and you got to watch it cross both hemispheres in his brain,” Garrison stated in a video posted to YouTube that has since gone widely viral.

“You saw his right arm jerk, and then you saw him blink, you heard his voice hesitate, and then you saw his left arm jerk. You literally watched it travel across his brain. To be very clear, these were not simple muscle spasms; this is not something related to pain — you don’t see any pain on his face. You actually watch it travel from one arm, to his eyes, to his voice, to his left arm.”

Garrison then explained what a focal aware seizure actually is. It is a neurological event in which a person remains fully conscious while abnormal electrical activity fires in one region of the brain. In certain cases, that activity can spread across both hemispheres, which is exactly what Garrison said he witnessed in the NASA footage.

“Now, what this is very consistent with is something that we see in people that have had strokes called a focal aware seizure or a focal motor seizure, and this can be focused in one part of the brain, and occasionally, it can spread to both parts of the brain,” Garrison explained. He added that scarring in the cortical areas of the brain can sometimes trigger these kinds of events. That detail made his analysis land even harder for many viewers watching the clip.

Garrison was firm about the limits of what he could conclude from video alone. He stopped well short of claiming Trump had suffered a seizure or experienced dysphasia. “I’m not insisting that’s what’s going on with him, but it is clearly something neurological, whether it’s post-stroke or something else,” he said.

Garrison’s broader review did not stop at the NASA footage. He also examined several of Trump’s recent public appearances, including an executive order signing tied to Trump’s push to rename Lake Ontario as “Lake America” and a TikTok clip showing Trump writing the new name across a map of the lake. Across those videos, Garrison flagged unusual speech patterns, visible confusion, repetitive thinking, involuntary physical movements, and sudden changes in facial expression.

The psychologist also weighed the role of stress. He pointed to controversy surrounding close Trump aide Natalie Harp and ongoing disputes over the White House ballroom construction as possible pressure factors. He was clear, however, that no video review can substitute for a real clinical evaluation conducted in person.

The NASA episode arrives against a backdrop of growing concern over Trump’s overall physical condition. Reports show he has gained more than 20 pounds since his 2024 presidential campaign. His May physical reportedly placed his weight at 238 pounds, up sharply from 215 pounds listed on his 2023 Fulton County booking record. Outside physicians have described that level of weight gain as a serious health risk for an 80-year-old man.

Trump has dismissed every one of those concerns outright. “Maybe junk food is good, and the other food is no good,” he said in May, according to The Washington Post. “I know many, many people that all they do is watch their weight, their this, their that, and they kicked the bucket, and here we are. I feel great.”

The White House has separately confirmed a diagnosis of chronic venous insufficiency after observers noticed visible swelling in Trump’s lower legs during public events. Recurring bruising on his hands and arms has also drawn repeated attention. White House medical staff have attributed the hand discoloration to a daily aspirin routine combined with the physical demands of regular handshaking.

Public reaction to the NASA footage split sharply across the internet. One viewer wrote, “Not surprised. He’s being held together with tape and pins.” Another simply stated, “This man is ill.” A Raw Story commenter pushed back entirely, writing, “I would refer to this event as ‘encouraging’ rather than ‘concerning.’”

One person noted that the pattern appeared even clearer in a separate speech, writing, “You can see it travel from one side to the other, with his speech taking a hit in the middle. The walking, the stroke face, the fact that he mentioned they have drugs to bring people back to life… hanging by a thread.” No official response from the White House has addressed the NASA footage or Garrison’s neurological analysis directly.
